I get the sentiment, but that’s thousands of deaths.

Edit: It seems we have a ton of war hawks here. I know that Iran is defending itself, as they should. But nobody should be cheering on the war and deaths of thousands on any side. I would cheer on the total withdrawal of the US. I would rather nobody dies senseless deaths.

If the US doesn’t want thousands of deaths on their end, maybe they should have considered not attacking Iran.

Tell that to the Iranians who are losing their homes, their hospitals, their schools and universities, their offices and of course their lives and the lives of their loved ones

Self defense. They rained death on Iran first.

You know how you prevent those deaths? Stop fucking invading Iran. Those deaths are completely on the US’s hands.

They are completely allowed to refuse these orders but choose to follow them. Congress has not approved this war so it is 100% illegal. No soldier should carry out orders given illegally.

That’s not how that works. An order can be legal whether these attacks are legal, extra-legal, or illegal (they’re extra-legal or legal). Congress has given the president power to perform some military actions without their approval. Their approval is needed to declare war, and they’re required to be notified of the president taking certain actions (which they weren’t at the start, making what the president did illegal, but not the soldiers).

This isn’t defending the actions. This is only a statement of fact, letting you and others know you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about when you use this saying. Yes, they can (in fact, they must) refuse illegal orders, but that doesn’t mean what you’re implying.

Yeah, I can get behind that. But sinking multiple carriers is a bit extreme. I think what we all really want is the immediate withdrawal of those carriers and no more death.

Extreme? They’re getting bombed, their public infrastructure is getting targeted, schoolchildren are dying, but killing US soldiers is a step too far???

You think Iran wants this war? You think they’re welcoming their country getting laid waste to because it means they get to kill some Americans? They’re not the ones who started it and they don’t have the power to stop it. You want it stopped? Maybe focus solely on the US instead of this both sides victim blaming bullshit.

If you were a teacher you’d probably be the kind who sees a kid beating up another kid and suspends them both because the kid getting beat up tried swinging at the attacker after they already started beating them up and “all violence is wrong.”

Tell me please, how do you stop an enemy army from killing your people & destroying your infrastructure? Do you think the US will go back if asked politely? Be serious

Look, I get that, nobody wants bloodshed for bloodshed’s sake. But this is war, they are being attacked, there are troops massing near them while they’re getting bombed. Either they get brutally murdered, or they defend themselves. That or the US retreats; I think we both know that’s not happening.

The conclusion seems fairly simple to me.

And tbf I’m not particularly giving much worth to those who follow orders on the US & israeli side. They made their bed, they lie in it. You can’t expect to go and kill brown people for decades, sign up to be the next generation of that machine, and come out unscathed.

There is a big difference between supporting them defending themselves and cheering on the war. What everyone should want is the war to stop, not more deaths.

The USA encourages young people to do that by keeping them in poverty and ignorance. So it’s kind of voluntary but not exactly freely chosen.

Not an excuse. Not even in the slightest. You don’t get to kill people to feed yourself. Would you defend poor people joining gangs and cartels?

This is exactly why they target low income communities for recruitment. Someone who is down and out is a far better target for recruitment.

My boys have the right to defend themselves; Also this will be great data if the US or Israel plan future wars of aggression!
