You are missing everything basically.

Normally its actually legally impossible to pursue charges against someone for picking up something you deliberately abandon. Furthermore the act of doing so would in the best case involve spending thousands to tens of thousands of the people’s money to pursue such charges. Threatening to burn the people’s money and hurt people to keep people from eating food that has been abandoned is absolutely crazy.

Morally nobody is being deprived of value because the goods aren’t saleable and thus no effort will be made to collect them. They are rather insisting that others who would have enjoyed them should simply let them rot. So first you are arguing for moral evil for no purpose. Next it is normally the case that goods that are abandoned on purpose eg making no attempt to collect the bananas cannot be stolen.

Lastly such a threat is absolutely insane.because it is a threat to go after private citizens with the power of the state to punish people for what normally isn’t a crime, wasting the publics resources hurting people for doing something that was never morally wrong.

Mint has basically contained bad decision making by Ubuntu and individual versions are supported for 5 years. The average computer lasts 6 before replacement.

Mint is fairly future proof I think.

I have flatpaks installed but not org.gnome.* note not first gtk app the first that require gnome runtimes. Then once you have a bunch of apps you’ll end up with different versions needing different runtimes which will need constant updates of the same 1G. Given modern connectivity and storage it isn’t that burdensome in truth but neither is the Windows example.

This is a physical defect. Macros make one key press effect one or more action button or key press. For instance if a common operation involves pressing a b and c in sequence you can make one button on your mouse actuate that sequence.

You can’t bind a macro to left click because then you can’t left click anymore. Even if you bound double clicking to single click (if this is even possible) it would mean every time it single click you would effect nothing which is equally if not more broken.

You need to either take your mouse apart and fix it or throw it in the trash.

They stole it explicitly because they thought they could get away with pretending someone else stole it from the door by photographing it by the door… Nobody can steal it from inside a locker. It follows that they wouldn’t have done it in that scenario. Also doordash basically hires everyone on planet earth. It hires some folks it doesn’t even know its hired because they are obviously working on someone else’s account.

I think the bad feelings are by virtue of taking away something that WAS free. This is just basic human psych people are loss averse.

Flatpaks that aren’t official products of the source project sometimes have interesting issues pertaining to their permissions, are harder to set as the handler for files, harder to enable usage of system tools, don’t follow system themes, are harder to start or use from the command line, and yes start slower than native apps.

I like the idea that even stable distros can have latest stuff easily or distros which don’t package a given project. I use a few myself. It is certainly annoying that it ends up teaching people about what dirs they need to share with flatseal, flatseal, desktop files, and the command line for something which is supposed to simplify things.

Kinda feels like less work to use rolling release with a more comprehensive set of packages.

There’s a good reason why there is no GUI installer in arch (aside from being able to load it into ram).

This is the dumbest conceit of the arch community. I learned Linux using Fedora back when regular usage required more know how than installing arch does and it was enormously helpful to have something you could click and install and THEN learn in a functional environment. Also following the guide isn’t THAT hard its just a waste of effort for a million people to do so.
