I’m on CachyOS and trying to set up a multi-room system with one PC. I have a 4-monitor setup, and I have monitor 4 connected to my TV in another room (room 2), and 1-3 in my studio (room 1) with the PC.
I’m trying to set it up so that my 3 monitors in room 1 use my speaker setup in that room only, and monitor 4 to use the TV soundbar for anything running on that monitor in room 2 only.
I can’t seem to find a way change the output for specific monitors if it’s at all possible.
As far as I know you can change the audio output per app but not per monitor.
I may be able to rig something up if I can do it per app actually. I’ll look into this, thanks
I believe the search term you’re looking for is ‘multi-seat’.
Great, this should help simplify my search haha. Thank you
I’m not aware of anything that ties display and audio output together in the way you’re expecting, but you could make a Pipewire config to tie some things together and probably make it work. If your TV is using DP or HDMI for audio output, then this is already handled for you in some small part because it helps to define which display will be in use.
Yeah it’s just an HDMI connection to the TV. Once connected I can swap the output to the soundbar. I’ve been avoiding the Pipewire config since I do audio recording/production for a living and didn’t want to screw things up haha. Looks like it’s time to dive in and give it a shot. Thanks.
Give this a shot: https://github.com/dimtpap/coppwr
Interesting. I’ll check this out thanks
I do not think that is possible but if it is, then you’ll want to ask in the discord it discourse forums.
Sure it’s possible. But Let’s stop putting support and communities behind that locked , privacy nightmare of a platform discord.
Explain how it’s possible. If you’re talking about if you go in and modify the kernel sure. For a person that’s asking on a forum, no, they are looking for a built in way.
Haha damn, I just left Discord. I’ll check out the forum though, thanks.
