The article itself seems to state that they were most likely asked before the people became problematic. Given the game has been in development for 12 years & Ed most likely asked a huge plethora of Internet personalities, I’m surprised there aren’t more.
I’ll be honest & think between their tiny team, it almost certainly wasn’t much of a priority at all. Though from what I’ve seen of Ed, I don’t think he’d care enough to change it if he was made aware

But that also means he had plenty of time to find out that maybe some of these should be discarded from the final product.
