Thirteen individuals, including 12 protesters and a Daily reporter, were charged with felony burglary after being detained by police on Wednesday. Students were suspended and banned from campus for the rest of the quarter.

    This is just terrible on so many levels! Even if you decide these people need to be charged, how tf is this considered burglary?

      Because they can’t charge them with felony trespassing, so it’s got to be burglary.

        Forgive my ignorance, but isn’t burglary a legally defined term that require a certain crime to have been commited?

          California’s burglary has “petty theft” as one of the signifiers for burglary. All they have to prove is that anything is missing, like a stapler, and then they can charge all of them with burglary.
