Who names a planet after dirt?
you’re high on mushrooms in the Viking age, the gods are everywhere
Who names a planet after dirt?
They can see my receipt for 10 bucks
It’s less about intelligence, implying some innate talent or skill, and more about indoctrination and education, but I agree with the sentiment we are ill prepared for the recurring challenges we keep inflicting on ourselves.
Ubuntu Mono for terminal, code, and data, Open Sans for the rest
The ones I’ve seen in the wild are pvcs and ccc/harvest, but there are others. I think they usually try to brand it as part of a larger end-to-end SDLC tool or change management, or it’s built to work with a specific proprietary system like Autodesk vault.
And Firefox, git, Dia, gimp, etc…
Proprietary OS’s like Windows and macOS lack package managers too that tools like chocolatey and homebrew provide.
Fascist big brother is always watching, loyalty is the only principle they value.
Saved an old desktop and laptop from the trash by installing mint and Firefox with ublock. The desktop lasted them for years without any problems, and I think the only problem I supported on the laptop over years was the boot mount filled itself up during updates and needed to be cleaned up.
You can’t just look at the total numbers and %'s because not every vote has equal weight, the way the electoral college is set up and fptp elections means votes in contested states and districts count for much more than if you’re from a highly partisan area.
I’ve used Dia for years, great simple tool for diagramming & if I need something more I’ll switch to graphviz dot files
Just one person’s perspective but I spent 10’s of thousands on a stem degree at a mid tier public university and did some research during undergrad. The program i was in dropped by over 2/3 the number of students from first year to fourth as people changed degrees or dropped out so there was some challenge. I could have stayed in academia to do grad/post grad work for about half the starting pay as working in the public sector or non profits, and higher for corpos. The prospects were non competitive pay for about twice the work to stay in academia at least when I was looking around a decade ago. If I didn’t have to take on so much debt for tuition I probably would have stayed.
Comp sci undergrad from a mid tier university graduated in 2012, didn’t need Windows at all. I mostly used an Ubuntu desktop, pocket sized mini laptop with bsd, and a red hat vdi the school provided during a research assistantship.
The school had labs in the library and comp sci building if you needed windows for something but it never came up. Group projects shared files on school provided web based tools or dropbox and used the same for class forums, sharing docs and assignments, etc. Some web stuff was broken for Firefox and had to use chrome, but never hit anything requiring IE (pre Edge).
Even if you’re not in a technical field you may want to explore some of the common tools they use like git for version control (like save/restore points in a video game), LaTeX/TeX for better typesetting than office, and off-site backups.
Won’t be seeing pictures or video evidence of any of that on corporate news, censorship does people a disservice
Meanwhile the governor of Texas is pardoning jury convicted murderers like Daniel Perry for political gain.
I’m not sure because google.com requires JavaScript and then when I enable it it says it’s had too much malicious behavior from my VPN address and to enable another host gstatic to connect to I’m guessing for a rechaptcha and I gave up
It also doesn’t help that a bunch of games have an upgrade charge, I mostly just use it for Blu-ray lately.
It would also help if more than a handful of people in the House knew semitic is a pretty archaic term and would include Palestinians in Gaza as well as Israelis and people from several other countries as well.
Protected classes are race, religion, national origin, age, pregnancy status, gender, citizenship, disability or veteran, family status or genetic information. Nobody gets protections for genocide.
Edit: genetic not generic
TeX. I was able to use it during school for some beautiful type setting and formatting but nobody I work with wants to use anything other than plain text or unfortunately more commonly binary wysiwyg editor formats. It’s frustrating and ugly.
Same, if I have unlimited data it’s none of their business what that data is
The command line is an exceptionally useful tool, you may want to spend a little time getting familiar with it and common command line tools that would probably make self hosting almost anything easier.
It’s like wanting to learn to play guitar but not learning how to restring and tune it, sure it’s not necessary but you’re going to be overly dependent on others to do something you could learn for yourself with a little time and patience, and it will probably broaden your perspective on what you can do once you do get familiar with how to pipe commands together and combine basic tools into something more sophisticated and complex.
