  • The only thing LLMs have contributed so far for me is that with my phone job I no longer have to note accounts. It listens, it writes a summary (90% of the time). So far I’ve been instructed to leave the accounts void of notes regardless unless I feel something super important should be added. So nope, you bought the shit. If it works, great, if not, not my fault. I will take breathes between calls now instead of panic typing notes in 10s between calls. It is kinda cool to see the summaries though. It’s definitely trained on clear English though. It hates foreign dialects and LA and MO southern accents. To be fair though, I barely comprehend 80% of people with Cajun accents, and piece together based on context.

  • I’d try removing the share and readding it, make sure to select the remember checkbox. Then add to Places for the shortcut. Only prob I have with Folphin is extracting from shares (hence Peazip), but the workaround is to open via PZ, then extract within the app (would be great to have access to that menu to have another rightclick extract option for PZ to be fast, but meh, not too important.

  • Not all of us have been absorbed yet. I’ve used Linux in passing for years, but only now have tried just diving on outright. Previously my issues were RAM leaks, having to run commands on a laptop on every startup just to initiate wifi, and WINE performance. The former seem to be fixed, the latter seems to be about 89% there with Proton (I even use it for nongaming). Lutris drove me nuts, so Ijust use Steam to do the hard lifting.

  • I kept my ref # for 11, but yeah, Bazzite so far suits my needs. Just now really getting used to Linux, and learning as I go. OMV on an old machine for my NAS confuses me more admittedly. Only thing frustrating with Bazzite so far is the locked os. I would like to modify the menu scripts to include peazip options and extraction to Desktop as a menu item, but I can work around that and do things the longer way. Simple things though are pretty easy. Also sucks that I can’t get Doom Eternal to work on steamlink, but it’s of secondary use anyway. Bazzite is faster, no errors so far unless it’s something I tried to do to it. No RAM leaks like I experienced many moons ago with Xubuntu either (like 2015). I think it’s quite viable as an alternative now (especially since MS has lowered the bar so far)

Hid a pc into a bar of my mobile home this way. All parts were either screwed into plywood or strapped with zip ties. I hated the wasted space. It had a 24x28" space with no door (Fixed with a scroll saw, magnetic close, and some hinges). I added a very small plywood shelf for DVDroms and usb drives, and just attached the board to the inner wall. Used a hole saw on the tabletop for I think 2" (just big enough for a VGA connector, and ran all the cords into the cabinet. Worked well, then I moved into an actual house. Still loved it more than apartment life. Coolest part was no one ever saw the door unless I showed them (which was great cause that cut was waaaaavy)

  • I conveniently was given a Synology ds412 by Amazon many years ago (and being as I had just been fired from the phone job with them due to a “mistake” in hiring me, I figured I’d keep it. Also learned that when you work security, don’t piss off secretaries while doing the job, even as a contractor). I still use it. Not powerful, but it serves up most video alright, and is ok as a download space.
