Bring Your Own Library will no longer be supported. Games previously played in this manner will no longer be playable on Luna after June 10, 2026.

Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions sold through Luna are discontinued. New subscriptions are no longer available for purchase, and any active subscriptions purchased from Luna will be cancelled at the end of your next billing cycle.

Third-party game stores (EA, Ubisoft, and GOG) are being removed from the Luna platform.

I will not defend Amazon. But the lack of local retail/price gouging which is shipping in Canada keeps pushing me to Amazon.

I need a role of 3D printable filament or an SD Card. The nearest store is 1-2 hours away and costs twice as much for the convenience, buying from the manufacturer may not possible and if it is shipping cost just as much as the product.

I would love it if there was competition, but there isn’t and Amazon knows it. So for the most part I just buy from brands I know are safe.

Yes modern Windows is based on the NT Kernal. However to keep with compatibility with older programs, NT needs to be compatible with DOS. For most people they never saw the transition from DOS to NT, since it was quietly done with Win XP.

Not sure when I associated it with the entire OS. It appears that the Host OS can be sandboxed for added security, and some containerized applications like Flatpaks are sandboxed. But not all applications are. Like the OS provided packages in most package managers.

From a windows perspective Linux does 2 things differently which makes it more secure to Windows.

1. Like MacOS it doesn’t need antivirus software like Norton. Windows needs antivirus because DOS the OS windows is based on, had it where any program had access to anything. This is still sadly true even on Windows 11. Linux is Sandboxed, where instead of giving the program full access to everything, you just give it a sandbox with what it needs.

Unless you deliberately run a program as the admin of Linux (su or sudo), malicious code can just delete system32.

2. Linux’s is open source and while the desktop market share is tiny, there are a massive market in servers. As a result since there are a lot of eyes on the project if/when problems are found they are fixed quickly. I remember a time when a malicious actor was trying to add a backdoor into a library as a blob and it was caught.

Windows on the other hand is closed source, meaning if MS can’t find the issue, the only time it is found is when it’s in the field. To avoid downtime MS offers bug bounty programs for those who can find issues, rather than to let them exploit it.

I work in IT at a company who uses outlook, but has locked down the phones so the users can’t install anything.

I can say without a reason of the doubt that outlook on Android is hateful.

It’s still a 2010 era android app with non of the desktop features working. Like the signature not syncing with your saved ones. And focused inbox hiding important emails.

But since the phones are locked down. These dark patten ads are twice as annoying since the user thinks there phone is broken. They just removed the Microsoft 2fa prompts on setup. But I saw this and almost cried.

Don’t assume that users are smart enough to read or understand how this works. They press buttons until it works. If we didn’t force google play to not allow edge to download our users would’ve been in a much harder situation to support.

According to Nintendo my legitimate backed up software is causing them to loose money. At this point even if the legal way is wrong, then why not go full sail.

What I did was I went to the thrift store and I found a laptop. It was the Asus Transformer Book T100han.

I had one when it was new. It was a POS but hey it worked really well in my use case I was thinking of.

Got it home booted it, has Windows 10 1501 installed on it. Refused the update. (The perfect windows machine does exists)

Updated it to 22h2 bricked it by running out of the limited 32GB of storage.

Said screw it got Linux Mint on a USB installer. Installer crashes. Tries Ubuntu… also crashes. Tries OpenSuse, also crashes. Tries Fedora also crashes.

Turns out the installer requires more than 2GB of ram. Laptop only has 2 and it’s soldered. (The e waste special)

Gets Debian installs it. Gets to desktop, no Bluetooth, no audio, but everything else runs better than I ever saw it. Needs older distro.

Gets Q4OS installs fine, runs as well and audio works. No Bluetooth. My very specific use case requires Bluetooth.

Forces myself to go back to windows. No recovery image. Downloads from MS, can’t create media because my PC is on Linux. Boots into VM, makes installer. Installs Windows. No audio no Bluetooth.

Gets drivers from asus website. Everything works but audio. Calls asus support gets drivers. PC is back to when I got it.

Pair Bluetooth controller, installs auto hotkeys, installs libre office. Best teleprompter I’ve ever used.

Shoves into box until it’s needed again.
