I did register writefreely.world planning to host that one day, but I need some more selfhosting nerds to help out running all these instances :-) The foundation is now already running a few dozen Fedi instances :-D
Admin of a lot of fediverse servers. See my accounts on Keyoxide
I receive a lot of messages, direct and mentions. I can’t reply to them all. If you have an issue, please e-mail at info@lemmy.world

I run a pixelfed and misskey on the same server, and used to run a mastodon besides that. No issues. (I use docker)
Depends on what sort of invoices. For my invoices for billable hours, I use Kimai
(I’ll add links / descriptions later)
I host the following fediverse stuff:
And these are other things I host:
Anything that the family uses. Because when I cease to exist, my wife isn’t gonna take over self-hosting! So e-mail, chat, documents etc.
I’m still running Synapse. Could I migrate this to Dendrite or others? Or would I have to just re-install and lose all messages…
Yes, terminology… I mean single instance. And although you can create pg_dumps of separate databases, a true (online) backup of separate databases is difficult. Tools like pgbackrest or barman don’t support it. (I mainly focus on Postgres)
Backup / restore gets complicated if you have multiple apps in 1 dB
I run XWiki in Docker.
I do now!
Yeah it’s one of the domains I would love to have but GoDaddy has registered a bunch of them, trying to resell for big $$ which I refuse to do.
Selfhosters wanna host. But many people don’t. (Ergo: lemmy.world, mastodon.world (GitHub anyone?) so maybe people would like forgejo.world And if not, I’ll use it myself! :-)
Cool! I feel a forgejo.world coming!
Didn’t have time yet to check, still not federating?
What is the instance? I can check the logs.
By the way this is Media disk usage for my Mastodon instance, but it’s not really small ;-)
Do you need Mastodon, or can it be something similar? Mastodon does a lot of caching. For my single-user instance I run Akkoma, which is very leight-weight and has all (even more) features Mastodon has.
Just installed Zabbix agent, so data just coming in. Bandwidth usage for Lemmy.world server
Rsync works fine for most data. (I use borgbackup) For any database data, create a dump using pg_dump or mysqldump or whatever. Then backup the dump and all other volumes but exclude the db volume.
I do host some stuff myself 😉 but there’s one thing to keep in mind.
Don’t self host stuff that your family still needs after you’re gone. Unless they are self host nerds like you. I stopped self hosting our mail and docs for example.
Would you agree?
