Hi there!

If you fall on hard times and need the help and support of your community you’re weak and unproductive and should be disposed of so someone more productive can move in to your domicile unit and pick up where you left off. It’s just good business.
Please stop thinking and get back to work. Don’t forget, it’s Hawaiian shirt day on Friday!
I have no idea who they are, but you’d have to make an extremely strong airtight case for banning an entire news source.
I’m not saying you’re right or wrong in this instance, I don’t know anything about RFA, just that we must be incredibly careful when censoring access to news sources, to ensure that we only ever do it with the ones that are truly peddling lies.
If they’re just giving a different opinion on a situation or a different cultural perspective that we disagree with for example, that can feel like the same thing, but that’s not lying, know what I mean?
Anyway, just my thoughts!

Can’t be having bloody foreigners coming over here diluting our pure British economy with their piles of foreign money and high education production value!
Only a fascist trying to be a dictator would actually do this.
Sounds like rather than patchwork mini laws like this, they need to revamp the system to ensure no single person can take such drastic overreaching action.
Lets not forget that a president/prime minister isn’t the singular person in charge, they’re merely the figurehead/frontman of an entire government of elected people, as well add representing their party, and of course ultimately are a civil servant working at the pleasure of the people.
95% of the things the president does should go through proper democratic channels within the government and not simply rubber stamped by a single person, that path is the path towards dictatorship.
The few exceptions are rare things that can’t be put to a vote or through regular channels, like launching nukes, etc. But these are exceptions only.
There should never have been a situation where it was possible for a president to personally decide to change the future of the entire nation and indeed world, in such a dramatic and drastic way, without any checks and balances to ensure that it is the will of the people, out even the will of anyone else in government.
Which is why it sounds to me like they need some significant reform, rather than just making this one little change :-(

We’ve all agreed that when he dies it would be disrespectful to keep using Linux so we’ll pack it up and switch to Windows from them on.
It would bug me to no end that the trackpad is off centre haha
Did you wave to the Queen on the way past? :-D
Oh you’re in a boat are ya? Probably one of those librul foreign commies comin over here on your banana boats tryina climb our great trump wall (one of the wonders of the world, everyone’s jealous) to spread your ungodly socialist abortion heresy and “education” to our sweet young wives. You won’t get away with this! God will protect us from your heretic allah or my name isn’t cleetus junior the fifth!
Once you’ve figured this out, tell me about it please! :-D
I was just thinking about how I miss this screen the other day haha
Capitalists gonna capitalist, no surprise there.
To think that a company like Facebook could care less about some dead family members would be a mistake. They only, at best, occasionally pretend to care to ensure they keep the money coming in.
This is literally exactly what I keep saying and people just look at me like I’m crazy. Exactly!
Do you by chance know any further reading I can do along these lines? Books are preferable to dubious random blogs and such but I’ll take anything written, really! Thank you :-)
I don’t know who this is, but I imagine there’s some sort of laws against openly calling for genocide in their country, or if nothing else, a firing from their job by a business that doesn’t want to touch you know, a public genocide lover, with a 10 foot barge pole…
I’m all for public transport, and limiting the need for cars, but public transport isn’t viable for EVERY journey.
What if you’re disabled and have special travel needs?
Or you’re sick/elderly/immunocompromised etc and need to avoid enclosed crowds to avoid catching COVID as it will surely kill you in your current condition?
What if you’re trying to transport something that can’t be taken on public transport, like your rotavator to go turn over your allotment? Or your big strimmer? Or even just your big gardening tools to do such jobs by hand? Or maybe you’re transporting a load of wood you just bought, or a new window, etc etc.
Or just a load of family grocery shopping for the week, which would take up several seats on the bus which isn’t allowed, assuming you could even get all those bags onto the bus - you cannot can’t carry them all once you get off, either, you’d be stranded at the bus stop. You could use a large personal shopping trolley, but again, those have nowhere to go on a bus.
What if you’re going camping and need to transport a bunch of stuff for the whole family down to a camp site?
What if you need to dump loads of old rubbish down at the tip, day, because you recently demolished your old garden shed, or had a big clean out?
Talking taxi every single time for these sorts of things is incredibly expensive and not viable, and those are just a few examples of the many reasons you might need to take a personal car over excellent public transport links.
I love love love public transport and reducing car usage, but getting rid of cars entirely severely limits people’s mobility. Cars fill an important niche. We shouldn’t all be taking cars for every single journey, that’s the main problem we have to tackle as a society, but they are important to maintain access to none the less.
Seeing news like this, and knowing how it will negatively affect the mobility and life options of the poorest and the most at risk, makes me sad 😔
If I could afford almost 4 quid per meal I’d be laughing! Think of all the nice food I could eat!
We grow all of our vegetables for most of the year. Potatoes, carrots, leeks, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, beetroot, lots of berries for jams, etc etc. I don’t know how we’d manage without that.
We live in the outskirts of a major city in England, not a stereotypically poor blackwater somewhere. This is how bad things are these days.
Woah now hold on there this is the Internet, nobody reads anything, we just scroll past titles and sob quietly into our microwave meals before crawling into bed alone.
…R-right guys?
The link says Peter, why does the post say Philip?
Yeah, it does a fab job of giving me playlists in each of the moods/genres/decades I tend to listen to most, giving me a mix of tracks I know and stuff I can discover. I’ve found sooo much new music I love that way!
The AI voiced DJ is fun too, it’s surprising how psychologically satisfying it is to have a personal lil DJ, even when it’s basically just generating those same playlists under the hood, with a few tweaks.
I’m glad there are offline/open source solutions people are posting of course, I don’t want Spotify to ever be the only choice or some kinda monopoly. But yeah, if you’re happy using a service like that and spending a reasonable amount on a subscription, it’s fantastic :-)
