  • I once called a guy about something he was advertising in the classifieds. I called him on Easter Sunday. He answered, but said he needed a second before he could talk.

Turns out he was Amish. I called an Amish man on the phone… on Easter Sunday. He answered… while he was in church.

I called an Amish man on his cellphone, which he answered in the middle of Easter mass, to talk about his classified ad.

This was the most tame interaction I’ve had with Amish folk. They’re fucking hardcore.

You know that scene in Parks and Rec where Ron Swanson tips a jug of moonshine up onto his shoulder and pours it down his gullet? I’ve fucking seen a bearded guy with a big hat and no buttons do that IRL.

The Amish know how to party.

  • How has this thread been up for half a damn day and no one has mentioned the Borderlands series (Smoogy@kbin.social at least mentioned Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, but that was just a Borderlands 2 DLC which got re-released as a standalone.)

My wife and I put tons of hours into most of the the Borderlands series. I recommend playing them in release order.

    1. Borderlands is a fun shoot n’loot that’s got a loose plot, but it’s not terribly deep. It’s like a sci-fi road warrior feel. It’s a fun co-op game with plenty of DLC and replay value. My personal favorite.

    2. Borderlands 2 is all the fun of the first but they went all in on the writing and voice acting as well. It’s tons of fun. Arguably the best of the series in every aspect. It’s also tons of fun in couch co-op.

    3. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is the third game but canonically it’s the second. It’s the same concept but with new anti-gravity mechanics and lasers. It’s like Mad Max on the moon. I believe this started life as a DLC for BL2 before Gearbox decided to turn it into a fully fledged standalone game.

    4. Borderlands 3: It was a fun game with some really great level design, but the writing seemed forced. Worth a playthrough to see where they take the storyline.

    5. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands - Borderlands meets DnD. A spin-off of the aforementioned Assault on Dragon Keep DLC. The game itself is a lot of fun, but it’s a miserable split screen co-op experience thanks to the terrible menu and inventory management system.

This person is a parent, likely going to teach their kids also be lazy, inconsiderate goons.

We live in a society. Park in the lines, put your shopping cart in the corral, stand on the right side of the escalator… these are basic things a person does to make life a little less inconvenient for others. L

Don’t teach your kids to be privileged dicks.

That’s what people who park like assholes tell themselves. It takes ten extra seconds to straighten out and park correctly.

The daycare I take my kids to, there are six regular spots in front of the building and two handicapped spots. There’s tons of parking on the side of the building, it’s just not as convenient.

Without fail, there are mothers who will absolutely park in the handicapped spots if the other spots in front are taken. Some of them will even park their massive SUV in BOTH handicapped spots. It blows my mind, the privilege these people display. They can park on the side of the building and walk an extra ten feet like s normal human being, but no… they are more important than anyone else.

I make sure to point out to my kids that those people are breaking the rules because they don’t want to deal with a very slight inconvenience.

  • Are you honestly that confused? Do you really think this is some kind of gotcha?

Russia invaded their smaller neighbor for a made up reason.

DeSantis is suggesting invading our smaller neighbor for an equally made up reason.

We don’t like either scenario. I would be just as supportive of Mexico getting military aide from other nations as I am about Ukraine getting military aide from other nations.
