Discord is such a piece of trash tool. I have to use Slack for work, which is garbage also, but makes sense in such contrxts, but Discord? I don’t want to feel like using a worse at everything else Slack during my time off.

I get it, building community and such, but come on! Forums are such and easier and friendlier way to do this.

I don’t get it. Why do people buy connected appliances, then complain about them being connected? Last year I bought all my appliances from AEG and none of them are connected, they are pretty good and they run based on button programming.

Add more spyware, isn’t that the de facto mentality of Microsoft? Add more spyware so they can force you to buy more crap, al for the “greater good”. Oh yeah, and most likely try and take over secureboot with some Microsoft crap allowed only, “for to protect the children”.

I’ve only once had a broken firmware update in years and it was an easy fix.

I’m not sure how people can recommend other distributions when they all have issues of one sort or another and you just have to do the bare minimum sometimes to fix them.

Judging from how hasty you are to dismiss a distribution based on a singular event, I would say it will be hard to find other distributions that can be what you wish them to be.

Not gate keeping here, but even in Windows/Mac there are issues which require some research to fix, sometimes even harder than linux ones.

Or any compact pc like gigabyte brix, nucs, lenovos , etc. you can get those for 70-200 on ebay and they are amazing for running any homelab projects, including stream services like jellyfin with hardware decoding.

Hp Omen 34c user here. I’m quite happy with it, even though HDR is not the best. it does a pretty good job in general and is fairly well balanced for the asking price.

Wifi? imagine trying to get pci modems working and basically compiling your kernel each time you’d need an obscure driver. usb didn’t even exist and external ones were both expensive af and running on serial ports.

I was curious around 3 months ago, between distro swapping and I installed W11. It lasted 2h until I rage installed linux and took me an entire day to wash the windows taste off. bleah…

I have fully switched my arch to flatpak only( for user installs obviously). There are still some apps missing features like anything requiring secure credential storage (i.e tutanota) , but for the most part using flatpaks has been an amazing experience, if you can live with the increased required storage needs.
