Mostly on my Lemmygrad and Hexbear accounts. But still like Lemmy.ml and the people on here. Not a liberal, conservative, or a fucking fascist! The masses need to wake up and see how much we have been and continue to be lied to by those that want us to stay dumb and hating each other!

  • GIMP is much more memorable for good or bad. I got over the name like 5mins after I first learned about it years ago. WLBR is so bland outside of the spelling. At least Blender kind of sounds like it blends elements to make something, and Plasma sounds like it would look nice. WLBR sounds frumpy/bland (though I would like to know what it will stand for), which is about as bad as trying too hard to sound “fresh/sexy” from a marketing standpoint. Maybe they could have gone with GRIP (GNU Raster Image Program) if the actual concern was about “offending” people while still being easy to remember? Idk, I suck at naming things.

  • I would love to have an excuse to put that on mine. If the job is tech or imaging related, then they would already be aware of it. For the others, at least it might cause a laugh or confuse them long enough to look it up (which means you might get remembered and taught them something). Just have to own it and not pre-apologize for it, power move, and don’t even act like it is any different when speaking at an interview (just like any of the other stuff you have listed). That or just put “GNU Image Manipulation Program Project” and leave it at that since it sounds “professional”.

That being said, I hate how overly “professional” people try to make every little thing sound much more “impressive” than they are. But I respect that you care more than I do/would, so no hate for you likely being much more likely to land a job. lol

One personal anecdote about wild resume with regards to a video response to questions I listened to while my boss was having to watch to make first picks for real interview. There was a woman that said her name was “Lix Dicks” (I can’t remember how it was actually spelled). I was like “Wait wait wait, did the sound just glitch out??” and my boss also had the same look on her face. We replayed it a few times trying to see if it was our PC or maybe the video. But my boss went back to the text of her resume, and shit was real. The person ended up not making it due to availability listed in a different section (her other previous work and qualifications would have had her much better than most of the others). Best believe we were sad that it meant the in-person interview didn’t happen. We still remember her though. Perfect qualifications AND such a wild name was such a loss for us.

  • It is dumb for any nation to think that adding more USA military personnel/weapons/bases is somehow a good idea. I mean, seems like once the build-up is high enough, that all the main parts for actually taking the land is done. Seems like the plan is to squat long enough to just claim it is now part of the USA.

Given how deeply USA tech is in NATO weapons/equipment, it would mean the back doors/kill switches just need to be flipped (just like the constant accusations about Chinese equipment). Which would make forcing the USA out is at least much much harder. Not to mention the very high likely hood of much more open USA promises to “defend” with nukes.

Even if Trump himself is just playing an over the top haggling game of chicken to force deals he actually wants (freak them out bad enough to give much more just to think they are calming him down). His true believers that follow him would certainly be taking it further and 100% mean it once they take power. Getting the vibe WW3 will be the axis of USA and Israel vs literally the rest of the world.

  • I have heard about how much more aggressive Windows has became since 10 with how it likes to fuck with partitions for certain updates. If using a desktop (or laptop that has two drive bays/slots) it might be safer to just have a small drive (or large if it is games) for Windows and a large main drive for Linux. Then you can just pick which one to boot at startup via the motherboard’s hot-key. A VM makes more sense for most things, but if a dual boot is needed then two drives is safer.

  • If anything positive might come out of such a fucked-up level of open terrorism. I hope that it not only leads to the resolve of the people of Venezuelan people standing firm. And all of Central and South American nations to unite in mutual defense. Might not lead to a wave of jumping all-in on socialism/communism, but they all have suffered under the boot of the USA. Any nation that keeps placing USA interests above their own sovereignty only keeps things like this happening.

The right-wing news outlets are already pushing for Cuba to be next. Literally nations that their talking points about “suffering under communist dictatorships” only happen because the USA is allowed to control how other nations can/can’t trade with them. And any USA citizen and politician that can’t wake the fuck up continue to have the blood of all other nations on our hands. This isn’t just about Venezuela, it is also a massive push to further keep attention away from the active genocide that never stopped in Palestine.

  • “What happened to Maduro can happen to them,” he said.

I hope that he and all the other politicians in the USA understand that this now gives the “okay” for the same to happen to them too. The USA loves to start shit everywhere else and we are groomed into thinking everything only happens in other nations across the world. 9-11 and even Pearl Harbor have shown that such false feelings of “no one would possibly attack USA homeland” are hubris. NATO is a thing, but if a NATO nation is the aggressor, the that Article 5 shit doesn’t apply (to my limited understanding). And the other NATO states really need to stop placing themselves in the same agreements that lead to the first World War.

  • Might be a W for now, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they bring back the ties if they get US and IOF support to steamroll the Kurds. But maybe not, just know that they love to play both sides (normally Russia/former USSR and USA). Time and actions will tell as always. This would be a major chance to be on the correct side of history if it can put a dent in stopping the genocide of Palestine. And shames the US aligned Arab nations like Saudi Arabia that have done nothing as they certainly knew and know what the IOF/Zionists plan to do.

  • The “dumb TV” options are few (there are some but doubt their panels are as good), so the only “real” options are to go with the second option you gave. Depending on the size needed, PC OLED/AMOLED monitors are probably the best option pared with a HTPC or whatever other box. Sucks that a lot of the larger ones are also becoming “smart.”

  • True, I ended up listening to some tracks and bought two of their albums. Their response to being dropped from their agency and the attempts to smear them was awesome. Even if the “news” outlets want to focus on the video of the chant at the show. It means they have to show the footage with all the Palestine flags and the banner on the stage behind the group. Still isn’t those outlets admitting that the genocide is happening. But still keeps Palestine in the “news” in even a small way. For their efforts to keep Palestine talked about at their own threat to gigs and being dropped from their agency. I hope that their music is listened to by more people than would have known about them otherwise.

  • That might be true, but look at how hyped Israel’s Iron Dome has been as being so “amazing.” And yet Yemen continues to make it through time and time again. Not to mention Hezbollah’s many successful incursions with their recon drones and missiles hitting many of their targets. Hell, even the USA took some bad hits when dealing with resistance fighters in Afghanistan and Iraq. All the expensive tech is so focused on dealing with opponents that are also using it. Or at least pitched as important because of “the future of war that will be fought” and just seems to make mad profits for private corps and capitalists.

Are the systems impressive in fucked up scary ways? Yes, but it gives false senses of “safety” and allows for underestimating nations and fighters that are seen as “backwards” from a tech standpoint. That underestimating and hubris has caused many nations throughout history to lose. Of course it doesn’t negate that it is kind of shocking that Iran hasn’t found creative ways to better deal with these attacks. Though it does give them every green light to hit back as hard as they want/can.

  • Do you have DOCP/XMP/Expo (whichever your board may call it) turned on? If so, you might want to try turning it off and see if the crashes stop (or at least get reduced). RAM could be fine but just not stable, which a BIOS update might help. Also might help in the event that your board is one of those that have had issues recently with the X3D CPUs. There is always a chance that the GPU might be faulty. Which I don’t know how to best test for that short of just trying an old one (or a friend’s if they have their old one).

  • One thing that infuriates me with job interviews is how they will write you off the second you are late. But they sure as hell can be late by as much as they want. And will treat you like shit if they are in a rush, or if they forgot about your scheduled time slot (had this happen with a phone interview that I even proved to the receptionist that I had in fact followed the instructions). They should be required to pay the person being interviewed for each hour (rounded up even if just 15min) wasted or their own lateness.

  • I understand the catch 22 of it. But they are already doing crackdowns, and even without this, they have already planned more crackdowns. So it means that being afraid/concerned about potential crackdowns only really helps the Zionists/fascists. Just like the Dems always being concerned about how the Republicans will react makes them not actually accomplish anything ever. Never bothered to force things like Roe v Wade into official law when they had chances and just kept it as just an up in the air thing. There are very much times and places for trying “good faith” efforts. But they mean nothing and get stomped on if you already know the other side is “bad faith” only.

  • Good to know that you actually give options a try (every now and then I try Photoshop to see how it works and new things). So many people will just hate on things just because they just hear that they are bad. One of my friends does photography and hates how Photoshop being a subscription costs so much. But refuses to bother checking-in on GIMP or other options. Even Lightroom alts are deemed not worth it just from muscle memory it seems. Which I do at least understand, but even just checking on options can mean having fall-backs if suddenly needing them. I doubt Adobe will just go away, but they can always make costs higher and higher which price people out.

It would be good if more UI/UX minded folks that actually use Photoshop/Lightroom but hate Adobe’s sub models were to help out. Even just giving good input and follow-up with why or how those things could work is a starting point. Devs and creatives need each other for making projects/products like GIMP into options that more people would use for real.
