White phosphorus is not considered a chemical weapon because it operates primarily by heat and flame rather than toxicity, making it an incendiary weapon. Its use is governed by Protocol III of the Convention on Conventional Weapons (CCW)

Not saying that it can’t be used in bad ways but it has legitimate uses in combat areas (mostly as a flair) so the issue of supply, etc is not as simple as were it an actual chemical weapon

I don’t really think you do, I’m not going to bother listing other examples but you get the point - what you’re saying is not only absurd but it’s clearly not what you actually believe.

I think you’re selling freedom short, yeah convenience and momentum are hard to beat but Lemmy is where the open source Devs are and the first adopters, I think we’re gonna go see a lot of interesting things emerge here which will draw a lot of users into trying it out - especially if all the other social media sites are closing their doors to people without accounts from viewing information.

What Lemmy needs is it’s own version of place, not the same thing but things that are fun and novel and community building. The basic stuff is still getting finalized but as things get established we’ll see plenty of tools made to help moderation, to enable new features and useful ways of interacting with information. Hopefully some fun games and toys too.

I’ve got a lot of work to do on my main project at the moment but I’ve also got a lot of ideas for Lemmy stuff I want to play with when I’ve got the time, I’m sure theres a lot of other people cooking up ideas and watching things develop and stabilize waiting for the right time.

I really don’t think just calling everyone we have a disagreement with right wing as if it’s a synonym for evil is an especially useful strategy.

Because like I know it’s hard to hear but the Scandinavian countries are pretty shitty too in a lot of ways. UK and most the EU is right of the democrats, even Kier (labour leader) is to the right of Biden.

I wrote a long bit explaining what they really mean with reference to Phil Ochs and all the contradictions and contrarianism involved in people who use liberal as a slur, it’s not worth it though because the real answer is ‘too left = tankie, not left enough = liberal, everyone is bad and should be ignored except for me’

It’s funny and sad people find it so easy to deny China is good at tech stuff, they’ve been spending huge money on education and tech development for at least thirty years now so it really shouldn’t surprise anyone they have huge numbers of very well educated tech professionals.

What’s really funny is it’s fine when corporation’s fire their whole workforce and get their product made in China but it’s terrible if I buy something from a Chinese company? Ok.
