Normally when people refer to “.ml” they mean the dev instance, lemmy.ml, not lemmigrad.ml.
I’m not commenting on the substance of your post, just pointing out the mismatch.

I’m sorry to tell you but Ticketmaster controls many of the smaller venues as well.

What a shocking turn of events…but not really.

Infosec professional for almost 30 years here. I can confirm that the latest iterations of AI models are finding high quality bugs and vulnerabilities in the code we work with. If Daniel has access to Mythos, I suspect his experience would be even more shocking.
The problem I have is that the AI tools can find bugs faster than they can be patched, which is eventually going to prompt companies to use AI to patch bugs found by AI. Before long, no living being will be able to make heads or tails out of the code we run. Just my 2¢.
Some of those are pretty solid, especially if you catch them on sale. Get that physical media while you can.

I didn’t make my comment based purely on my personal feelings. This article sheds a little light on what could have been the motivation.

100% feel that in my bones. There is a clip in the video of a boy in a kahki colored jump suit that turns to the camera gives a stunningly beautiful smile. What a beautiful boy, and we are killing boys and girls like him as if they were nothing. The missile strike on the girls school should have stopped the attacks. A fuck up of that scale (assuming it was a mistake and not deliberate), should have stopped all attacks until a full investigation was complete.
Smells Like Trump War Crime
Depends on what aspects of Canva you speak of.

Nobody actually believed they would. Literally nobody.
LMDE Cinnamon. Boring. Rock solid.
I installed Pop!_OS on a Thinkpad in 2020 and have been using that install as my daily driver without issue. That includes multiple LTS release upgrades. The key is to stick with LTS releases. It’s boring because you do not get the latest and greatest features, but the payoff is rock solid stability.
EDIT: As far as distros, I stick with Pop!_OS for myself, Linux Mint for my wife (we’re both IT professionals), and LMDE for my servers.
Server or workstation?

Jesus…fuck. Those paragraphs were really difficult to read.

It’s a weird hill you’ve chosen to die on, but ok. You do you.

Lolita is meant to be disturbing. A horror story told from the perspective of a very unreliable narrator. Intellectually, I appreciate it, but I too could not get through it.

I haven’t seen the movie, only read synopsis and reviews…

The main actresses were of age (17 & 18 at time of filming) but the movie was about a girls camp. Most of the other girls were much younger. Cynthia Nixon was 13 and looking younger. My issue is more with the portrayal than the plot. For a few years in the 70’s and early 80’s there was a trend to make jailbait movies for the pleasure of adults. Little Darlings wasn’t the worst, but it is still problematic. The plot of Tatum O’Neil’s character flirting and trying to bed a man in his late twenties or thirties was included for no other reason other than to feed the fantasies of the adult males in the Audience.
Manhattan is another disturbing example. The actress was 16 and the plot was of a man in his forties in a sexual relationship with a high school girl.
The Fog. Jamie Lee Curtis plays a teen hitchhiker than promptly fucks the rando trucker that gives her a lift.
Examples seem endless and they all point to the same obsession that generation of men have with young teen girls. Woody Allen, Trump, Epstein, Ted Nugent, etc. They all demonstrated the same issue.
If you are going to cooy and paste, copy and paste the entire thing.
Examples:
Academic publishing
Between 2016 and 2022 the turn over and profit margins of academic publishers increased partly due to article processing charges from open access. This has been accompanied by predatory publishers who prioritize profit over scholarly integrity. This Academic enshittification results in a scholarly system that is “overwhelmed by quantity, distorted by profit motives, and is stripped of its purpose of advancing knowledge.”
Amazon
In Doctorow’s original post, he discussed the practices of Amazon. The online retailer began by attracting users with goods sold below cost and (with an Amazon Prime subscription) free shipping. Once its user base was solidified, more sellers began to sell their products through Amazon. Finally, Amazon began to add fees to increase profits. In 2023, over 45% of the sale price of items went to Amazon in the form of various fees. Doctorow described advertisement within Amazon as a payola scheme in which sellers bid against one another for search-ranking preference, and said that the first five pages of a search for “cat beds” were half advertisements.
Dating apps
The market for dating apps has been cited as an example of enshittification due to the conflict between the dating apps’ ostensible goal of matchmaking, and their operators’ desire to convert users to the paid version of the app and retain them as paying users indefinitely by keeping them single, creating a perverse incentive that leads performance to decline over time as efforts at monetization begin to dominate.
