All that bridge stuff has me interested. I’d just like to put all of my chats in one place. Matrix seems like the solution for that. Just bridge everything lol.

If paradise is an empty room.
If your phone is fully supported and not on the fringe of whatever project your interested in is, you’re not in much trouble most of the time.
I’m not really that sort of user, so I have no idea. I use arch and XFCE but have toyed with Budgie and Cinnamon in the past as potential replacements for xfce, and while I liked them, they didn’t… feel right.
Solus was the originator of Budgie, Manjaro used to have a community spin. I’m not sure who’s responsible or pushing it these days, but it is similar in that it’s a gnome3 based, traditional desktop with hardly any outside dependencies outside of itself.
Try Budgie
Xfce4.
y tho
It’s inexpensive on resources while leaving me nothing to really… need extra, I suppose. It’s old so there’s thousands of themes and ways to set it up, and it just feels like home. The speed of the animations and defaults to everything has a very stock Windows XP feel to the desktop despite it looking like nearly anything. The system doesn’t get in the way of programs from other desktops or setups in mind and always steps aside.
It is quite a beefy and roided dispute, imo.
My issue with the dispute is that it has jack shit to do with Linux, Foss or the open source community and the consequences felt aren’t against the people persecuting.
It’s a missed shot. The Russian fuckarchy doesn’t care if they get to contribute to Linux, or if they ever get to again, if they even know or care to notice in the first place.
The entire Linux community in Russia gets to suffer so a disapproving man in the Netherlands can wave his finger disapprovingly.
Is it worth it? Worth what? No one gets anything.
You don’t need sanctions. I’ve seen you petty fucks fork projects over a font.
I use Jellyfin and Finamp and they work fine. All the old navidrome and airsonic solutions seem to be dead, and I never liked Funkwhale. Who wants all of their music in encrypted block storage?
I also like the quality bump. When I’m not streaming, my music is in FLAC on a DAP with some high quality cans. I can’t get that with Spotify on a phone, and I camp and hike a lot in areas without cell service, so having it with me is a plus.
Music sits in between storing movies and books. I have less than 2TB in total but the amount of albums is more than the amount of films that I have, and that’s 7TB+. Music, even FLAC, isn’t terrible on space, unless you’re a 24-bit fiend.
Preservation is an invasive and destructive process. Recreating the experience of watching ‘The Daily Show’ in the 90s or early '00s is already impossible. Language and culture mildew and rot just like leather and wood.
EDIT: People don’t seem to understand what I’m talking about. Even the people who are responding in good faith seem confused. That’s on me. So I thought I’d try to clarify with an example.
Take the Mona Lisa. Perhaps one of the most preserved objects in history. It’s so well preserved that it’s impossible to see. Sure, you can look at it, but you won’t see it. Taking a picture of the painting is encouraged, but you can’t get a look at it in your camera roll either.
If you saw the actual painting hanging on a friend’s wall, your first thought would probably not be “what a masterpiece”, but “why didn’t they remove the default print that came with the frame”? If you go to Paris, you can wait in line to have the “Mona Lisa experience” but the painting you saw wasn’t hanging on the wall, what you’ll see is the Mona Lisa you brought with you.
(yes, I stole this example from ‘were in hell’ youtube channel)
Figured I’d make a copy. Who knows, the OP might change it in the future. Gotta preserve the past and all.
Yep, my shelf of DVDs of movies I loved growing up became 4TB of media on a Jellyfin server, cloned to a cold drive I leave in my closet.
Well there’s borrowing, but I feel that’s what we’re all already doing.
Headscale worked for me, but I get the non-tech saavy friends part doesn’t quite jive with it as a solution.
Still, anyone wanna ditch Tailscale and only use it for hosting sites across proxies? Headscale is great.
