Old t430 for mail and whatnot (read degoogling) It’s an absolute pleasure to have a machine that’s just to the point, no extra bs.

At work, they keep using windows for some reason. Tried telling them “apt get anything other than this” but it didn’t take 🤷‍♂️

It’s a breath of fresh air and a real productivity boost. It’s been ages since I’ve been so enthusiastic and passionate about pc’s.

Install W11… your data will be backed up…just not the way you want it.

Speaking of which, I’m trying to move my household over to Linux to have more control and whatnot.

Does anybody know of a less invasive/problematic Roblox like game?

For now I play along with my kid to keep an eye out which is mildly fun but not always a valid solution.

Productivity: once your Linux machine does what you want, it does what you want. It doesn’t ask if you’re sure you don’t want ai cloud storage telemetrics shoved up your hinders every 2 clicks.

Bloat: No explanation necessary.

I have ADHD: I get shit done on Linux. You can turn off whatever you want and it stays off. Windows (especially 11) is a bs distraction minefield by default. And it’ll actively work against you to keep it that way.

Nothin a good crowbar can’t solve.

It works great for me. I control a multifx through VM. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work on other hardware (perhaps the off chance it’s very peculiar about online connectivity or such but I haven’t encountered it)

Ok maybe “always” is a bit strong but let’s say 9 out of 10.

Mint is an awesome choice to start. It’s got a nice balance between slim and enough features to get you going.

Keep in mind at all times: at some point you’re gonna need that one piece of external hardware to play nice with Linux or maybe that one piece of software ain’t doing it like you’re used to.=> there is a way or an alternative. Always keep calm, research the topic, and follow instructions carefully and thoughtfully when you find a tutorial.

That aside enjoy it, a little slice of freedom away from big tech awaits.

I find your interest in the expression itself rather uninteresting. I do hope it goes without saying people say these things without meaning them literally.

All in all the step from W10 to W11 is such a letdown one might compare it to a backstab, underhanded or otherwise.

Please make sure all your drivers are up to date and your screen is set to the correct resolution because it seems to be that you’re missing the bigger picture.

I have used Linux for a good while around the early 2000’s. Good memories.

Fast forward to now. Bought a new laptop with W11. hated it.

(Just imagine a long list of frustrations about W11, because I’m not going to contribute anything new by saying it) -and finally, I want my data to be mine!

And so now I get to annoy my wife about how awesome Linux is. My dad is on the train as well. We both annoy our wives with Linux.

Currently have 2 machines on MX with nvidia cards. One was flawless from the get go the other took some trail and error by installing some extra packages but I got there.

(Through the package manager I might add, no files edited or anything)

Mint has a somewhat similar user experience. Chances are you’ll be just fine. Try out a live usb.
