Workers are not making record wages, maybe CEOs and the upper middle class are but nobody else is. Maybe this is specific to America? Nearly everyone I know across multiple wage brackets I struggling with the cost of living.

This simply isn’t true, they’re extremely effective at preventing serious illness and death. Variants came along that stressed them but the main purpose of those two things has stood firm.

I honestly think it’s because you’re physically reminding them that Covid still exists and it makes them deeply uncomfortable. My wife and I wear one for similar reasons and she’s been accosted a few times where as I haven’t. It’s disgusting behaviour.

This is fair lol. I’m Canadian and when I was 17-20 I’d consume around 4-6 cans a day which was a crazy amount to myself and most people. 20+ seems nuts just financially.

The biggest issue I’m seeing is there’s other research that is the opposite of that so it keeps going back and forth which is problematic and hard to parse.

This really isn’t all that different from old school forums and the way they were run. Have people forgotten what those were like? That’s one of the biggest reasons I like the direction of Lemmy to begin with. The owner of the site can’t assume those risks, they’re not a corporation.

I’d say it’s actually a fairly black and white situation considering continuing to use Reddit is proving spez exactly right while adding more free value to them for their IPO.

I would do everything in my power to move over to a different community and not give them another click ever again that they can try and monetize. I’d understand if these were paid positions but they’re not, there’s no reason to stay. If the communities end up going poorly afterward that is on Reddit and what they deserve.
