It’s less of trying to do “days” and more just a 24 hour period of any given day. Syncing isn’t necessary as we can all just sit down for a few minutes on a singular device to get a gist of our needs and what our day is like. The calendars I’m used to usually are great for different events for different days but this is just more of a sleep, work, chores, etc in a day and what times they’re available. I’ll edit in some images in the upload to explain more what I’m looking for.
I took the 2nd paragraph meaning as protecting infrastructure/public works like power, water, hospitals, etc. A call out for those worried that went through 9/11 kinda thing. I’ve lived in an area where those have been attacked and the disruption of one incident can lasts weeks from a single bullet. Emergency management officials and commissioner are the two key points and this is a city mayor, not state senator or federal leanings.
edit to add: also meant to include religious and anything that might be loosely related to Iran or culture from the area (bigots don’t tend to scrutinize connections), leaving it as “sensitive locations” is better than specifically spelling out where extra protection is being laid out to any bad actors wanting to instigate.
I was skeptical of them at first when looking for 2nd-life OS’s. There were a lot of sketchy looking and not really “user-friendly” sites/forums (postmarketOS being one of them) that I avoided but decided to try it anyways. It’s been fun and I’ve enjoyed having a decent OS to tinker with and see what capabilities I can get out of defunct equipment.
If I could get a secure smartphone use out of them I’m gonna be ecstatic. Been staring at phones and GrapheneOS for the past two years but glad I didn’t jump onto something yet.
I feel so proud of postmarketOS! I’ve been using them for 2nd life uses for phones, tablets, and chromebooks with very minimal problems. It’s like having an obscure band you follow all of a sudden getting mentioned everywhere and I couldn’t be happier for the project (like the 3rd time on Lemmy this week alone I’ve seen them mentioned).
If you have some scrap equipment throw it on and report your findings! There’s a lot of testing that needs done and information needs to flow. I’ve done a “recipe” notebook with an old chromebook, a tablet for easy video viewing I can send videos to (instead of making my partner come to the comp), and like 3 other devices that I haven’t finished with but pmOS will be a part of it.
Join their testing team if you have devices that aren’t listed! Unlike most requirements, if it’s not listed that just means it probably hasn’t been tested…not that it doesn’t work on your device. (they could probably also use some editors for their text instructions, it’s quite back and forth with links trying to find proper instructions).

I’ve been on this train for a while that governmental organizations like the Bureau of Consumer Protections needs to have a site where all manuals, blue-prints, and technical specs need to be required to sell consumer products. I want to be able to 3d print or easily provide a machining service with the specs for a part ESPECIALLY when the original manufactures discontinue any type of support.
Same goes for all software or digital services that someone has purchased but the company folds or discontinues. I should be able to run my own servers or basic services off my own setup when that company no longer provides what I paid for.

The first 4k video of gameplay I saw blew my mind lol. You can actually see depth and aren’t confused squinting at a low res model trying to figure out what you’re looking at from a small distance. I was shocked when we first played BOTW and it’s problems running properly (lots of lag for a game made for the system), this title made me realize the switch is just dead to me now.

yeah, a really bad one rigged up on a cleanout for a main venting/drain stack. But, at least they got a p-trap in there lol.

Typically I don’t, the only reason I pull it up is because I have posts from 10 years ago that still get responses every month (I get e-mail alerts for those posts). Usually I’ll just message the user with information and an alternative forum I’ve setup in the past if they need more answers (it’s really niche and this forum format (reddit/lemmy) really doesn’t suit the topic). I keep thinking one day it will be all bots just leaving messages but they respond and usually sign up on the other site. So, I feel conflicted about deleting my posts or not responding because it is actually effective at connecting to new people, at least for the time being.

you weren’t kidding,
The term privatizing first appeared in English, with quotation marks, in the New York Times, in April 1923, in a translation of a German speech referring to the potential for German state railroads to be bought by American companies.[5] In German, the word Privatisierung has been used since at least the 19th century.[6] Ultimately, the word came to German through French from the Latin privatus.[7]
The term reprivatization, again translated directly from German (Reprivatisierung), was used frequently in the mid-1930s as The Economist reported on Nazi Germany’s sale of nationalized banks back to public shareholders following the 1931 economic crisis. (link)
It always felt, in my adulthood, like they are trying to sell off anything they can in the US like we’re a defunct company about to go out of business and the new ceo is trying to scam as much as possible. Guess that’s just another point for America being like Germany before a fascist takeover.
ok, I was gonna be facetious and post the video mockingly but it’s actually kinda funny. It seems from the clips it actually tries to follow the ball but keeps getting distracted by the referees big beautiful bald head. Future AI-AR(artificial resources instead of HR) discussions probably like, “wtf guys? You told me to track these things!?!”

What is with this “They” pansy-ass scapegoat bullshit I keep seeing from all these political extremism comments?
I’ve been seeing gross stuff all around about voting records. For context that matters, I live in NC. It’s fucking non-stop from all sides. I’m trying to find the ad I saw with a relative while over at his place that played on Tubi that he was watching. I just heard it in the background while I was cooking and was flabbergasted. This ad was very clearly anti-Trump but then commented on your vote is registered and can be seen (completely false) with a threatening overtone. It went by so fast, both of us asked wtf just came on and I assured him his vote is private but they can check “IF” you voted (he’s an independent and primed to believe the worse of all scenarios thanks to social media and news, but is mindful when he thinks for himself).
I doubt it was anything like the actual DNC making the ad, was more than likely a superpac. Trying to find an obscure ad that plays on streaming in a localized area isn’t as easy as it used to be. Doesn’t help that youtube and ddg just gives me a bunch of useless shit that aren’t even ads or commercials (who’da thunk it would be hard to SEARCH for a commercial to watch). Regardless, every single ad used in this context needs fined into oblivion and the people involved need jail time so others don’t continue it on for every election to come.
Also, the downvotes for you are undeserved. There’s some fucking sycophant political worshipers that either got shipped into here or have drank the kool-aid this election cycle. They literally cannot hear anything negative without becoming triggered. It’s really setting up the next administration to not have to do anything but wait another 3 years and proclaim democracy is in trouble again.

The whole premise of the article? There’s 2 statements in the entire article that you’ve highlighted, a rather long and lengthy article about the development and history behind the game developer. Your statements of “what the article is saying” is completely false,
is pretending the sale is some runaway success in the west
where does it say this?
article completely ignores the source of the sales volume
Article clearly states it’s sales, touches on the current chinese population use of steam, I’m not sure what you’re saying should be the “correct” thing that would satisfy you. Maybe you could provide an example?
The actual impact it’s going to have is much less on the development of AAA games by Chinese studios and much more as a demonstration of the Chinese market’s interest in single player games.
That’s a valid statement with a lot of factors (younger generations play more multiplayer). It wasn’t the scope of this article to break down consumer purchasing trends within a category (this thing is already long enough).
This seemed like a very milquetoast level style of an article highlighting the success and development of a game studio, I suppose everyone complains in the gaming industry now adays (myself included) so I’ll take your negativity more as a “gamer” thing than just hating on something not from the west. I’m rather glad to be exposed to news articles on here that aren’t NA eccentric that I’m always reading. Them not highlighting and differentiating themselves from the western market has seemed to gotten you into a hissy fit.

I gotta say, this article makes me feel sane again.

Holy crap that game development sounds like it had a really tough time and brought upon by the inexperience like you said. Found some conversations with the co-founder after the game was cancelled
the game did not retain enough players to have any hope of becoming a business and it wasn’t a question of marketing - any money we spent on marketing would have been wasted…
it was not growing organically in alpha people would come in, and play for a bit, and then quit … i’m not even saying we needed high growth like, remember when the alpha launched we had something like 500-1000 people online the first several days … but 4 weeks later we were nowhere near 500-1000 the kind of business we bet the company on requires a game like, say, tf2, where its what, 9 years old or something and there’s still hundreds of thousands of players and it probably hasn’t had a single dollar of marketing spend
Absolutely crazy and absurd level of expectations lol. I imagine there wasn’t a single PR or marketing person in the company that could explain to them why. Seems like a lot of hubris which stopped them from finishing the development process and wanted immediate success and fandom.
edit: words hard

Without knowing any details I can only speculate but 10 years is a lot of time to refine your experience and expertise in a field. Do you remember what game it was and why it didn’t amount to anything?

Nah, you read everyone should be staying at home. Person had a following qualifier that you ignored.
“I didn’t realize there were covid extremists still thinking masks and stay-at-home orders are needed.”
“Im a big fan of masks and staying home when sick. Always have been. My whole life. Covid included.”
You’re all over the place. How am I suppose to follow along with your extremes that contradict each other? This must be a “we should follow common sense, but don’t have common sense regulations in place” argument I suppose.

I think it was less “enlightening” and more just you reaffirming that you couldn’t be bothered. You don’t believe masks are needed for people with an infectious illness? You don’t think someone that is sick should stay-at-home?
“I lost an uncle and a grandmother to COVID”, kinda feel bad for them that all you think of it now is “most places on earth treat it as the common cold nowadays.” How many members in your family have you lost to the common cold so far in the past few years?
“This all reflects my reality where I haven’t heard about or been affected by COVID for years now.”
“I’m just an average dude (LOL). I travel a lot half the year in USA and EU and chill in remote areas all winter.” Huh, wonder why your arguments sound like anti-covid mandates. Your dog whistles of “Are you suggesting that everyone needs to be staying home and not working? If everyone doesn’t go to work, how will people survive (food, water, climate control)?” are pure trolling. Plenty of people worked during the pandemic and only quarantined when necessary, you know, common sense. People might be harsh towards you on here but you’re definitely deserving of it with your responses.
Oh shit that edit is hilarious and you don’t even see the irony in it.
The Invention of “Jaywalking”
over 100 years later and some communities are still fighting for policies that allow an environment that fosters connection and value of life over powerful industry lobbyists trying to take over with their products (sound familiar?). But for sure, it will just fix itself if we just give it a little more time 😘
