  • I definitely feel like I got an absolute steal of a deal. No idea when the sale ends, but I got all 3 games in the BioShock series, with DLC, and the 2 remasters for a little over $11USD before tax this weekend. I just finished my first time playing any of the games on PC. Had to install the original on my desktop with win10 because I couldn’t get the resolution right or brightness slider working on my steam deck when docked. Definitely prefer console controls because I was having a lot of trouble with mouse and keyboard controls, so I’m gonna have to switch to controller.

Other than that, I started playing Stellar Initiative this weekend as well and it’s was pretty difficult on the easiest difficulty while I was learning how to play and what works well with which enemies.

  • Since I just got my deck repaired and returned, I can continue Sonic Origins on there. Had to install it on my desktop temporarily.

I also just got the summon I wanted tonight in Fire Emblem Heroes: New Year’s Níðhöggr (Nithhoggr). As a casual I see strong unit like her and think I’m gonna be set for a long time (at least a new unit summoning banner or 2 from now hopefully), like when I got Heir to Openness Alphonse or Gatekeeper (even though he didn’t last long for me).

  • I think one of the few default things I’ve technically replaced on my laptop right now is Libreoffice’s powerpoint software with the OpenOffice one because I am too dumb to figure out how to make it so Libreoffice’s powerpoint software doesn’t immediately default to every character having basically 0 spacing between each other every time I either make a new document or slide. That, and I can almost never find the right number of points to make the text look good no matter the font.

Also, I do have the Librewolf appimage, but I use it a little less than my slightly tweaked default Firefox install.

Otherwise I’m normally fine with defaults, besides installing gridplayer to watch things off my external HD so I can watch and resize my shows in a way I can’t with other video players.

  • I just got Ballionaire on my desktop and it’s more fun than I ever thought it would be. It’s a Balatro situation where at first it didn’t sound like a fun game to play, then I played it and it’s up my alley. Only things I personally don’t like about it are the dancing stick figure things on the main menu or when a run is over, but that’s just personal preference more than a critic of the game.

I also got into the 2.01 update of Pokemon Rogue Emerald (Emerald Rouge?) and even though it’s a lot different, I’m enjoying it so far.

Besides that, have not doneuch outside of mobile gaming since I have to RMA my deck.

  • I think the game I’ve probably had the most fun with throughout the year and not including games I’ve recently gotten over the past month or two would have to be a 3 way tie between Balatro, Peglin, and Backpack Heroes. Balatro barely hangs on there, though, do to the boredom of playing it for long enough it’s starting to get a little boring.

  • Just got Legend of Spyro: Dawn of The Dragon working on RPCS3 last night on steam deck. Absolutely love that trilogy, even if I did play the games in reverse order. Only problem is how I cannot properly save and need to save state any time I wanna save. Hope I can reload those save states easily from the steam game mode thing.

Other than that, played through a short Christmas themed side story VN for Brok the Investigator called “Natal Tail” last night. Short, simple, expanded a little bit of world lore, and was in general a fun enough experience. Didn’t have voice acting, but it was more than okay without it.

  • One of the only things I miss from winblows is how I can download an exe or msi installation file and just install.

I mean, I do enjoy getting things installed via cli through a repository, but I suck at installing from source for those things that don’t have a deb installer or an appimage or something similar.

Otherwise, not much right now other than the fact I cannot figure out how to get the headphone jack to work on my laptop (galaxy book 3), leading to me having to use bluetooth headphones and my OS sometimes deciding I don’t need the high fidelity audio profile options, making everything sound like ass.
