The timing of the boat’s arrival in Seattle and the job cuts was coincidental, but the irony was not lost among the people who hustled down to the locks to see the giant yacht after word spread through the neighborhood and online. Some booed from the shore and heckled the crew.

Bumpers on the side of the boat were about the size of small SUVs, while the back deck had a covered pool and hot tub. More than a dozen crew members were visible, many enjoying the trip through the channel on a partly sunny evening.

I dislike the crew that work for him, too. The thing is useless without a crew, and people could make that choice.

As if your boss isn’t probably a rich asshole too.

What happened to “anything it takes to survive under capitalism”?

Disclaimer: I’ve argued against that idea since the first time I heard it, just pointing out that point who hold it don’t have much ground to criticized the employees of oligarchs…

No, I always worked for small businesses. I mean, yeah, the bosses were still assholes, but not filthy rich megalomaniacs.

Also, the handful of people who do this for a living certainly could find other employment. No one is forced to choose between super yacht crew and homelessness.

Finally, while this might be the best option available, they should instead “take one for the team”, and choose the second best. Yes, I’m suggesting that people make that “sacrifice.”

I’m glad I don’t work for a rich asshole! Not everybody has sold out to a corporate overlord, I have only had 1 job briefly at a chain and there’s a good reason for that. Every other job has been a middle class at best local small business owner. I understand it isn’t always possible for everybody, but you do have some choice. I know I could make more somewhere else but I also don’t want to wake up ready to suck start a shotgun every day!
