Amal Khalil, 43, was killed in the town of al-Tayri while covering the aftermath of earlier Israeli attacks alongside freelance photographer Zeinab Faraj, who was wounded.
According to reports, an initial air strike hit a car in front of them, prompting the pair to take shelter in a nearby house.
A second strike then hit the house, Lebanon’s health ministry and other sources said.
Rescuers managed to retrieve Faraj, who sustained a head injury. When they returned for Khalil, Israeli forces opened fire on the ambulance and deployed a stun grenade, preventing access to her, according to the health ministry.
Rescuers were only able to reach her hours later, finding her dead.
That is utterly deranged and fucked up.
What’s different about this? This is normal operations and engagement for the terrorist state of Israel.
This one is uniquely vicious and targeted, and also happened in our borders, not in a place they have carte blanche to tick off crimes one by one. This was the big news story here for the past 48 hours.
Typically when the attack is this targeted it’s on a paramilitary leader and not a regular civilian woman. This is very deliberate terrorism to also discourage journalists from going to the South and feeling safe with the typical press protection status.
They really don’t think we’re people. I wish I had anything more to say.
