If the employer knows that their income won’t reach the minimum, their income tax doesn’t need to be deducted by the employer, and it’s not. Filling or not filling the taxes is irrelevant, I was pointing out that their income is usually exempt of filling, and such they usually request the employer to not withhold the taxes. It also happens with citizens, I’m not describing anything untoward, I’m just liking the unfortunate but probable poverty life with undocumented immigrants.
Most of the undocumented didn’t earn enough to be forced to do their income tax, so being undocumented or not is irrelevant for paying income taxes.
They do pay IVA like anyone else tho and your point of emergency care vs regular checkups is very valid, regular checkups are cheaper for the system.
now that they are documented, they can have a full fledged working contract with full SS deductions and taxes and yeah it’s complicated
If they are employed, their income tax is deducted from their paycheck. It has nothing to do with filing taxes.
