In a glimmer of hope for India, Iran has said the Strait of Hormuz is closed exclusively to vessels from the US, Israel, Europe and their allies. The move comes even as India is in talks to secure oil supplies from other sources. Almost 40 per cent of Indian crude oil imports flow through the strait, a narrow 33-km wide waterway between Iran and Oman.

It appears that India has successfully protected its interests in the Arabian sea. Iran has declared that the Strait of Hormuz, from where 20% of world’s total oil flows will remain open for India and China.

It has declared that it is only closed for US allies and Israel.

Don’t you see a pattern. The news was of around yesterday and today suddenly India has officially condemned the Death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayotollah Khamenei. It appears India negotiated about diplomatic support to Iran in exchange for the right to pass through strait of Hormuz and in return has also condemned the death of Khamenei.

I think now Indian ships have minimal danger as collateral damage is impossible to avoid, but US-Israel will not attack Indian cargo ships, same cannot be said about Chinese cargos, as they maybe safe from Iran’s side but US-Israel remain a constant threat for them. India on the other hand, as it has appeared by recent development, seems to be safe from both the sides. We need to praise GOI and External Ministry of Affairs for this, yeah not too much, because things can still go wrong. We must not let our guard down.

      India is also a founding member of BRICS. I think Iran’s overall strategy is to sever all its neighbors from the US

          I was persuaded by Brian Baleric’s latest video on this topic. Basically, he says that the United States knows where every warship in the world is at all times, and China also likely has this capability.

          We do all know that the Indians and the Turks like to play both sides, this conflict might be the very thing that forces them to abandon that ambiguity.

          Also not going to argue that Modi doesn’t love killing Muslims, but I personally think national interest will win out in the end

    Oil is a commodity and by definition fungible. A tanker of oil purchased by China is a tanker of oil that isnt purchased elsewhere. Even if these agreements are that the oil has to be consumed domestically.

    If an Indian ship is allowed through and the price spread between India and the US is $50 a barrel that oil will find a way to move
