Taiwan is not sovereign, the government is a us puppet state, which is armed by us in gross violation of the us one china policy. Taiwanese are rich thanks to massive investments from US. As for the comparison to mainland, cpc managed an unprecedented in history wealth creation, comparing small part of china which received massive foreign capital inflow seems almost unreasonable.

But compared to LA for example shooting with rubber of foreign journalists, holding a protester down and repeatedly trampling him with a horse, unmarked ice illegaly detaining brown people. Common argument i read was that these illegals and aliens should not behave like this in MY country. Freedom of speech. Meh I agree western democracy is different.
