And this is creating a very dangerous precedent, where the US government shows complete disrespect of international law and provides Israel with this so-called feeling of utter impunity.

I understand that Biden should please his donors, but isn’t there a single candidate that thinks more about the humans than for the money.

And that’s why ladies and gentlemen, we the plebes outside the US don’t like the US state, because they always think they are above the law and act as such. Law should apply to everyone equally, no matter what their nationality or how fat their bank account is. Deliberately undermining the law should be punishable, and these people should seriously be ashamed of themselves by thinking they are the only one who can define what’s right and wrong!

The US once again acting like they are the only sheriff in town pisses me off. Making Netanyahu accountable for his crimes has absolutely zero shit to do with protecting Israel. Biden should understand that. His young electors understand that.

I totally agree, I just think this is purely posturing by Blinken. Policitally, Biden is on a tightrope here. He can’t risk thumbing his nose up at Israel, and he can’t risk pissing off any more young electors as you called them by being too soft on Israel. Sanctioning the ICC members would piss off a lot of those electors.

My first thought of a response to the top level post was:

(Narrator voice) They’re not going to sanction shit here.

If anything, prosecuting him might even make Israel safer because this whole thing is serving as a recruitment campaign for Hamas or whatever replaces them if Israel manages to eliminate their current command structure.

Not only does blue MAGA want me to vote for genocide, they want me to vote for genocide denial and the destruction of international law.

Yeah, better make sure red MAGA wins instead so you can get genocide denial, destruction of international law, destruction of local law, a brand new genocide in Europe and less woman and minority rights.

That will sure teach that 81 years old a lesson to see even more people suffer for the rest of their lives until he croaks in a few years!

Blue MAGA isn’t the mummy. It’s the Party.

What do you think happens if Democrats, as a Party, know they can always just use the boogeyman to scare us into voting for them?

If you vote for blue MAGA the Party will realize they can kill anyone they want and you’ll still vote for them. Who’s next on the menu?

I’m trans. I’m not going to vote for other people’s genocide just to maybe protect myself.

But will we be protected? If my red state decides to forcibly detransition me in Biden’s second term he wouldn’t do shit about it.

You realize that there are two possible outcomes. Biden wins, and the Palestinian Genocide gets worse or Trump wins and the Palestinian Genocide gets much worse. You’re voting for it either way, including by refusing to vote at all.

Your claim Trump’s genocide will be “much” worse ring hollow, because you must realize Democrats will look at the election results and realize they need to obstruct Trump’s genocide or face even more losses in 2026. Democrats will become the resistance again, instead of being complicit collaborators.

Understand I’d rather see Amerika and every single cracker-assed settler that uplifted genociders rendered to ash and driven into the soil they’d spend their blood to defend before I’d ever walk in step with them. If you’d sacrifice Palestine for your own fucking “safety”(read here: comfort, since ever since it came out that liberal think tanks are bankrolling the people behind Project 2025, no one believes anyone’s going to a camp), then you are not my fucking ally or comrade; and I will regard you as the opp the collective you has spent the last eight months TELLING ME you are.

As someone else said, getting the Republicans elected will not improve anything if people don’t change things from the bottom up (it will actually make everything you’re angry about worse). The Democrats won’t change their stances if they lose that election unless new people take the place of the politicians in place at the moment, they will just rely on people being angrier at the Republicans than they are at them after Trump’s next term, the result will be four years of things getting even worse and the Democrats having to fix even more shit when they get back in power in 2028.

Why would Democrats fix anything? They can just use the threat of Republicans to get reelected. Fixing things is not in their interests, because you will vote for them even if they don’t fix anything at all.

This genocide is only possible because of our government’s logistical, technical, and financial support. It’s only possible because we protect Israel from its neighbors, who would have long since intervened if it wouldn’t put them into conflict with the US. Israel is the 51st State, what happens there is possible only because of us.

Furthermore, Foucault’s Boomerang always comes home! Palestine is where we test border technology, policing tactics, facial recognition software, military AI, new weapons and defenses, and methods of political repression. We send our actual police there for training! IDF come over here to teach tactics to us! They’re talking about giving Americans that serve in Israel full veterans benefits! We are not safe.

You think you’re safe? This will come back for both of us, the things learned in Palestine will be applied to us when it’s our turn. It’ll start at the border, then come to the cities, and before you know it they’ll come for you too. That’s what that phrase is supposed to be warning us of, take your head out of the sand. The empire always comes home.

But sure- we’re both culpable in genocide as US taxpayers but I guess you’re absolved because you shriek at strangers on lemmy about it.

Not the person you’re asking, but vote for better people in local elections and primaries. The time to choose a better leader for this issue was every election before this one. Vote for better people now to solve tomorrow’s problems. Democracy is a constant battle for the future.

Fucking hell. What monsters would propose ending food programs across the world just so one man can sit in power during a genocide?

He’s a man, he can be replaced, he will be replaced eventually. Why are we going to piss off every country with a conscience for this goblin of a man with the military and political brainpower of a bowling pin?

Only thing this will do is fuel animosity towards the US.

This action was so fucked up and beyond my list of shitty things that the US might do that it honestly didn’t occur to me and so when reading the headline I found it confusingly phrased but thought maybe it somehow meant there was some hint of support for the ICC’s decision and warrants which would have been amazing. Imagine the rollercoaster for me when they actually managed to surprise me with a decision and stance worse than I could have imagined.

Fuck me the USA has turned into Russia, just shit posting/voting in the UN all the time. This is getting more and more to what Russia wants, no more UN, and they wanna trash it over genocide that they seem very ok with. Why are we not learning from the past. I was told we were to learn from it.

How is that, Russia has stated many times they want the UN to go away. By doing all this its just segmenting the people and weakening the power it holds. Please use more then 3 words to make your point.
