Being intimidated by the terminal is fine, but the sooner you learn it, the better. Terminal is your friend, not your enemy. Take baby steps if you need to, but you’re really doing yourself a disservice by staying away from the terminal.

Garuda is good for a newbie provided A) they love MacOS UI and B) they’re willing to bring their A game if something breaks.
What’s interesting is that some people read this and think it means “bigotry isn’t a problem anymore”, instead of “the rich use bigotry to control the masses”. You have to address bigotry as well as the economic issues.
Okay, they “don’t pay taxes”, but the government still takes the money and then returns it if they ask for it (i.e. file a tax return). That isn’t quite the same as not paying.
Also, you have to be stupidly poor to get all of your taxes returned.
Apparently yes.
I’m not trying to defend BestBuy or DoorDash. This is entirely on the driver.
You are defending Best Buy in the very next sentence.
DoorDash is designed to deliver food, not expensive electronics. You can bet that if somebody designed a delivery service for electronics, they wouldn’t make it this easy to steal shit. If the driver decides to take your food and eat it themselves, you’re out…what? $25-35? A $700+ laptop is a whole other level.
I don’t look both ways before crossing the street, and I’ve never been hit! It must be safe!
“I don’t care if I get dirt in my mouth, but I better not get it in my hair.”
I love Arch, but it is not for beginners. WiFi and Bluetooth are both sketchy. Or, at least, they used to be.
If they aren’t worried about dirt, I doubt that they’re gonna be worried about spit or piss.
I don’t think that we need million-dollar movies. And, no, I don’t think that humans would quit making art if you removed the profit motive. We’ve been making art going all the way back to pre-history, and most of those artists were not wealthy. Art wasn’t something created by capitalism in order to get people to fork over dollars for the latest Marvel Cinematic Explosion.
We also wouldn’t have any media if everyone pirated.

If nobody copied, a lot of media would get lost to time.
Some guys don’t like pink, don’t like smelling like flowers, don’t want to wear dresses.
“Some”? I would say “most”. Why do you think that is? Just a coincidence?
The fucking gender-norm police. Typically older folks. I once had people snickering at me for holding a bag with the crook of my arm, instead of the manly way, with my hand. And you better not cross your legs the wrong way when you’re sitting!

It’s called “soap”, people, and if you want to reduce waste (and save money), you buy it in a bar, not a bottle.
It really all depends upon what you’re doing. Some people don’t like to leave the terminal, and editors like nano or micro aren’t powerful enough for them. If all you’re doing is working with configs or something like that, micro or nano is just as good as vim.
Learning vim has been fun for me, which is why it always seems weird to me when people say stuff like “why should I have to learn, etc.” It’s like there’s no point in doing something unless it puts money into your wallet?
Learning new things makes you a better person. It’s good for your brain.
It’s like asking why you should make the effort to bake cookies or learn origami.
Could you maybe explain to them that a broken hymen doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s had sex?
People are afraid of the terminal because Windows has a shitty, unfriendly terminal. One of the things that brought me back to Linux was the cool-looking terminals. They make me feel like I’m Hackerman.
Linux isn’t just a different operating system. It’s a paradigm shift. Windows is always going to dominate as long as people are trapped in a Windows mindset.
