See box that looks like it’s 3/4 ripped in half from stacking damage:

“Looks good to me, send it off.”

Ended up ordering it from Phillips for cheaper on sale, turns out it’s not too hard to avoid Amazon altogether and a bonus for the company’s reputation being important to the ones picking/packaging the product. Hard to blame the Amazon worker though, they don’t get paid enough to care.

As an aside, I have that coffee maker and love it! See if there’s a local coffee shop, here in my city it was stocked and they even let me try a cup from there

Oh as an aside, the coffee comes out SUPER weak at the beginning, where I thought it was broken. Give it 20-30 shots/cups and it’ll start tasting more normal. I’ve had mine for 3 years now and love it

Would be nice if that community didn’t just post “Bezos bad” and actually gave tips on reducing Amazon use, but it’s a newer comm with little traction…

Edit: Some of y’all missed the point lol. I don’t use Amazon, but it makes it extremely hard to find shit that isn’t being sold in stores near me. How about promoting other websites/ways to get things, rather than preaching about Bezos being evil. I know he’s evil, it’s why I don’t use Amazon, but TEACH people where else they can go.

It’s the equivalent of going “Sex is bad kids” but then not actually teaching safe sex, condom use, STIs, etc.

The community is called “de-amazon”. It’s fine to say “bezos bad” but there’s plenty that the community could do beyond that.

Amazon and brick-and-mortar big box stores killed a lot of small businesses, and now online shopping is the only way to go for a lot of items, especially niche stuff.

Here are some ideas for actual useful posts in a community called “de-amazon”:

Here are the best sites for all your cookware needs

Anyone know some reputable sites to buy drone parts?

How to make diy x so you don’t have to buy it!

But who cares about community and information-sharing anyway.

        I feel you.

I’m personally trying to avoid Emag, a romanian online shitstore.

I recently gave in and bought a G203 mouse from them because it was the best price. Little did I know it was the best price because it was being sold by a shady minimum-capital foreign company from France, and was clearly counterfeit… It didn’t even connect to the Logitech Software and the quality was terrible. I filed an ECC and Romanian consumer protection complaint and swore to never buy from their shitty site again.

Nowadays I look products up on Emag then search them separately to find better vendors to buy from, lol.

Sure, the “there is no ethical consumption under capitalism” whataboutism. It isn’t any individual person’s fault for being forced to participate in capitalism. But it is their fault for not taking reasonable steps to minimize their harm. The difficult part of the conversation is that every single person will have a different definition of what “reasonable” means. For some, it means avoiding the obviously evil megacorps. On the other end of the spectrum, some may think it essentially means going capitalist-vegan and reverting back to scavenging and subsistence farming in their parents’ back yard.

Weirdly I can see your blasphemous comment about instant ‘coffee’ in your history, linked to this post, but it doesn’t show up in the comments here. I suspect it’s because it’s been voted down to -30.

In answer to the assertion you made about coffee being all the same, I say: you heathen! You Philistine! You non-appreciator of tasty coffee! If you like instant, that’s one thing, but many feel (as do I) that instant isn’t a patch on properly roasted, ground, and brewed coffee.

I’m not even that particular a out coffee, and I’ll be damned if I’m doing instant all the time.

I keep some around for emergencies, but otherwise it’s espresso/cappuccinos for me. A decent machine can be had for $100

Lol I just found it funny. I know a few people, mostly people from Mexico, that prefer instant. It’s weird but all the power to ya. The only crappy thing about it is that it’s harder to avoid nesco and similarly evil companies when you do that.

Instant coffee tastes nothing like freshly brewed.

Although I agree that the overcomplicated coffee machines with wasteful pods are ridiculous. Just use one of these, simple to use, portable and great coffee every time:

I keep a jar on hand for adding to certain baked goods/desserts, and I’ll throw some in my protein shake along with a little extra fiber for breakfast.

I find a cafetiere even less work for basically the same. Just don’t use boiling water, either cool it off or use one set to 80c.

Maybe I’m snobbish, but instant vs drip vs French press vs americano all taste different and Americano is so much better it was this or a bialetti moka express. My wife said she’d never use the stove top one and I’ve made over 10,000 espresso shots so far, so I’d wager I would have eventually caved in and bought a super automatic anyways. It may have paid for itself in electricity tbh.

I’ve used a DeLonghi espresso machine ($100) for close to 20 years now. My first one lasted 15 years.

It’s not perfect, but just about the best bang-for-buck on the market.

Brewed is a bit more healthier than instant and you can support local roasters over the corporate-owned ones.

I’m far from a coffee snob, but instant tastes awful compared to even preground prepackaged coffee
